No Pressure Acceptable on Use of Floodwater: Azma Bukhari

Minister of Punjab Information Azma Bukhari has declared that Punjab requires no instructions or outside pressure regarding utilization of river floodwater.

During her media appearance Azma Bukhari explained that the proposed canal operation would exclusively draw water from flood periods which will otherwise be wasted. She explained the water will serve developmental needs that will yield advantages for public welfare.

The chief minister stated that building any canals remains pending as the authorities focus on obtaining mutual agreement through continuous discussions. Progress needs to be achieved through dialogue rather than using threats as a method according to her.

She criticized the Sindh government administration under the rule of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for sixteen years because farmers’ problems have not been addressed successfully. PPP will receive an immediate unanswered response from every misleading statement they publish according to her warning.

A persistent movement against the river canal project is vigorously active throughout Sindh right now. The lawyers’ protest at Sukkur Bypass maintains its blockade as it impedes the travel route between Sindh province and Punjab province.
