Maryam Nawaz’s Surprise Visit to Services Hospital: Announcement of Modern Medical City in Lahore

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif made a surprise visit to Services Hospital on Wednesday while returning from her office. She thoroughly inspected the emergency ward and reviewed the medical facilities being provided to the patients present there. On this occasion, she also observed the treatment of the patients.

The Chief Minister inquired about the availability of medicines from the patients undergoing treatment in the emergency ward and their attendants. She expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made at the Services Hospital. Maryam Nawaz said that as a result of administrative measures, the situation of Jinnah and Mayo Hospital have improved. Expressing her satisfaction after visiting Services Hospital, she stated that no patient or attendant complained about having to procure medicines from outside.

Maryam Nawaz expressed her commitment and said that if the Chief Minister does not do their job properly, how will the subordinate staff work? She further mentioned that the Chief Minister’s job is not just sitting in the chair in the office.

In addition, a decision has been made to implement the latest referral system in the government hospitals of Punjab. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called for a comprehensive plan to implement this referral system. A special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister reviewed the reforms in the health sector. The meeting decided to establish a modern medical city in Lahore modelled after those in Texas, Jeddah, and Doha. The Chief Minister directed to allocate land at the appropriate place for this medical city and the establishment of the Medical City Authority was also approved. A special helpline 999 will also be set up to address complaints and problems related to public hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has given regular permission for the farmer brothers to transport wheat from the province. There will be no stopping on wheat transportation on inter-provincial borders. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the issuance of deregulation and free market policy for wheat. For the first time in Punjab, wheat will be purchased through the private sector.

According to another report, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the residence of Chairman P&D Nabeel Awan and expressed her condolences to Nabeel Awan and his family on the passing of his mother.
