Wait is over; PSL 10 kicks off tomorrow in Rawalpindi
Fans of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are eagerly awaiting the tenth edition of cricket, which will eventually begin tomorrow, April 11, 2025. The inaugural match will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium between defending champions Islamabad United and two -time winner Lahore Qalandars.
A total of 34 matches will be played this season, which will continue from April 11 to May 18. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the final. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 matches, while five, five matches will be held in Karachi and Multan stadiums.
All six teams – Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Multan Sultans – have completed their preparations and are determined to perform well. Many prominent foreign players are also participating in this season, including New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and Ken Williamson, Australia’s David Warner, West Indies’ Alzari Joseph, and South Africa’s Rasi Van Dur Dawson. These players are participating in the PSL for the first time and their presence is expected to increase the league competitiveness.
The PSL administration has announced the expansion of the league to more cities. An exhibition match will be held in Peshawar, which is an important step in this direction. The move aims to ensure the promotion of cricket in different parts of the country.
This year the PSL schedule contradicts the Indian Premier League (IPL), which will continue from March 22 to the end of May. The collision could affect the availability of some foreign players, but the PSL administration is hopeful that fans will see quality cricket.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the PSL is planned to extend from 2026 to six to eight teams, which aims to increase the popularity and competition of the league. Various investors, including the United States, have been shown for this expansion.
