SBCA will subcontract because it lacks the capacity to remove all illegal constructions, according to the local government minister

More than 2200 illegal constructions were demolished between March 2024 and April 2025, according to Sindh Assembly, Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, who also stated that action is being taken against illegal constructions throughout Sindh, including Karachi, and that a third party will soon be involved to demolish illegal constructions. 46 officers have been given show cause during this time, 28 have been suspended, 32 have received reports, 41 have received warnings, and 52 have been fined following an investigation. SBCA is unable to demolish all illegal buildings; therefore, it will outsource. If the institution’s actions are not satisfactory, the district administration and TMC will also be given the power to take action against illegal constructions.

During the Sindh Assembly’s Question Hour on Thursday, he shared his opinions while responding to members’ written and follow-up inquiries about the Local Government Department. MQM member Abdul Basit asked a number of follow-up questions, and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that people who construct unlawful buildings don’t complain about paying bribes. 46 officers received show-cause letters, 28 were suspended, 32 received reports, 41 received warnings, and 52 received fines following an investigation during the course of the previous year. Between March 2024 and April 2025, the SBA has dismantled over 2,200 unauthorized constructions. Nevertheless, I am not personally happy with the measures implemented against the city’s illegal structures.

He declared that more restrictions would be strengthened and the Sindh Building Control Authority’s laws would be changed. Three meetings against unauthorized structures have been held recently, he informed the house. Additionally, TMC and the district administration have been given permission to take action against unlawful buildings.
