Government Examines Roosevelt Hotel Joint Venture Amid Persistent PIA Privatization Postponements: Khawaja Asif

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated during the National Assembly’s Question Hour that the government is thinking about operating the Roosevelt Hotel New York as a cooperative venture. One of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) properties is the Roosevelt Hotel. The amount of losses has been rising as a result of the long-pending privatization problem with this airline. This airline, which is among the greatest and most lucrative in the world, was the pride of Pakistanis and the preferred option for other foreigners with the tagline, “Excellent people, wonderful flight.”

Later, the graph of its performance and profit in PIA proceeded in a negative direction, similar to other institutions, as the number of proposed appointments and the meddling of previous governments rose. It has even grown unsettling how many employees and other costs there are in comparison to the quantity of passengers. The same thing occurred at Pakistan Steel Mills, where political and suggested appointments made things more expensive and put the government in a tough spot.

In order to lift the country’s economy out of its current downturn, it is crucial to make sure that the idea that all government institutions should be staffed according to their needs and merits is upheld going forward. The PIA-owned Roosevelt Hotel is a structure unlike any other in New York, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said the National Assembly. The two-entrance, 19-story structure is positioned in the middle. Short-term gains or debt repayment could result from selling this building. However, the government’s initiative to use a joint venture will pay off in the long run if it is successful.
