Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach $3.5 Billion, with Federal Ministers Stressing the Need for 5G to Strengthen the Digital Economy

Export revenue is the most accurate indicator of a nation’s economic health. Therefore, increasing export revenue relative to import spending is a top priority for the Pakistani government in order to promote sustainable economic growth. The Federal Minister for Commerce claims that every effort is being made to increase exports to $60 billion within five years. The fastest-growing economic sector in the world today is information technology, and Pakistan has the capacity to succeed because of its highly skilled workforce.
Pakistan’s IT exports have generated $3.14 billion in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, compared to $3.2 billion in the entire previous fiscal year, according to Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja. According to the Federal Minister, our IT exports have surpassed $3.5 billion when considering our freelancers, who contribute more than $5 million overall. The fact that our IT exports exceed our IT imports by $2.7 billion, suggesting that the trade balance in this industry is obviously in our favor, is another significant factor in this issue.
Based on the information that is currently available, Pakistan’s internet penetration rate is 58.4%, which means that over 140 million people use the internet, and its mobile penetration rate is 79.4%, which includes 72.9 million smartphone users. However, one of the biggest problems for IT professionals is the internet’s poor pace. As a result, meeting the needs of international clients is delayed. Our IT exports could grow even more quickly if 5G internet is implemented.
