Saudi Arabia will soon launch self-driving cars

The Saudi Transport General Authority and Uber Technology Company have signed an agreement to launch self-driving cars in Saudi Arabia by the end of this year, according to the official news agency. Initially, under this system, to ensure the safety and provide immediate help, there will be operators.

The Uber app will serve as the initial platform for the Transport Authority’s self-driving initiative. At the Saudi American Investment Forum in Riyadh, Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Uber, and Dr. Ramih Al-Rumaih, the Acting President of the Saudi General Transport Authority, signed a memorandum of agreement.

To reach a wide number of people for autonomous driving, the Transport Authority will use the Uber app. The Authority and Uber Company have said that providing safety services is their priority.
