Steps are being taken to remove the group of non-filers from the tax system

Efforts are being made to take the group of non-filers out of the tax framework. Pakistan and the IMF are actively negotiating the new budget and the government vows to tighten the law for non-filers. According to information, steps are being taken to remove non-filers from the tax system. While the new budget does not make filing tax returns simpler, it does raise the standards for those who do not file.
Those not filing for taxes will not be allowed to purchase vehicles or property and they will not be able to use the financial system. According to reports, the IMF was informed during a briefing that the trader-friendly scheme will not reach its goals, but introducing higher withholding taxes on unregistered shopkeepers has been successful.
In the traders and wholesaler’s category, there have been 51% more filers than last year. Reportedly, the IMF was informed in the meeting that investigation of data from outsiders on tax defaulters is ongoing and new efforts to make the tax system effective are being made.
